Checkouts and Fines

Checkouts

General Guidelines
All books are checked out for two weeks.

However, students may return books early and check out new materials.

If a student has a fine or an overdue book, fines must be paid or books returned before he or she may check out another book.  Students in grades 2-5 may only check out a magazine until books are returned or fines paid.

Kindergarten

  • One book

First and Second Grade

  • Two books

Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade

  • Three books; general guidelines are a chapter book, nonfiction, and a free choice.

Fines

There are no fines for overdue books. However, there are fines for lost or damaged materials.

These fines are set by the district.

  • $15 for a book

Fines may be paid by cash, check, or using MyPaymentsPlus.com.

If you do locate a lost book after paying for it, please return it to the Media Center and you will be issued a refund!

Book Care

  • Use caution when placing a book and water bottle in the same bag.  Make sure water bottle is tightly closed.
  • Make sure your hands are clean when reading or handling a library book.
  • Do not write, draw, or color in a library book.
  • Use caution when eating or drinking while reading a library book.
  • Do not leave library books outside.
  • Keep your library books in a special place.  We recommend keeping library books in your child's backpack.
